Go Renaissance: Play the Recorder

Music touches the soul AND can help when you are stressed, so....


Remember that plastic recorder your children played in school? It is actually a Renaissance instrument (think Henry VIII). March is "Play the Recorder" month and Saturday, 3/21, was "Play the Recorder" day.


Since people are not gathering in groups this month, the Philadelphia Recorder Society is suggesting everyone play the same song on Saturday. They have selected a Playford dance called Jamaica (or Jameko). If you ever watched the British TV Sit-Com about the life of Shakespeare called "Upstart Crow," then you've heard the tune, since it was used as the theme song.
