Boldness has Genius, Power, and Magic In It !

~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe ~

Until one is committed there’s hesitancy, the chance to draw back,

Always ineffectiveness.

Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth,

The ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans.

That moment one definitely commits one’s self, then Providence moves too.  All sorts of things occur to help one that would never have otherwise occurred.

A whole stream of events, issues from the decision raising in one’s favor, all manner of

unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance,

which no man could have dreamed, would have come his way. Whatever you can do or dream you can,

Begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.

Begin it now.

The first successful summit of Mt. Everest, May 29, 1953, was completed by Edmund Hilary and Tenzig Norgay. Prior to their dangerous and daunting expedition, Hilary found inspiration in Goethe's words. He later reported that the dreams and bold actions of his team did initiate a flow of unforeseen support for their mission.

News of the expeditions' success reached London in time to be announced the morning of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation on June 2, 1953.
